Dr. Kalpana Jatla
Dr. Kalpana K. Jatla is a board-certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She attended the University of North Carolina (B.S.) and Wake Forest University School of Medicine (M.D) before finishing her ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and her obtained her glaucoma fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Jatla has a keen interest in glaucoma. Her formal glaucoma training includes filtering (trabeculectomy) surgeries, shunts, minimally invasive glaucoma procedures (MIGS) and other corrective procedures including the most advanced, cutting-edge techniques and technologies to improve patient outcomes, including selective laser trabeculoplasty for open-angle glaucoma, Durysta® glaucoma implants, and XEN® Gel Stents.
She is also an expert in vision corrective procedures such as cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange. She is the first to introduce the LENSAR ALLY robotic cataract surgery to the Austin greater area. LENSAR ALLY Adaptive Laser Cataract System, provides more precision and accuracy during critical steps of the procedure. The entire procedure is less than 40 seconds. It’s also less invasive than manual surgery, and can result in better vision after the procedure. Reduced complications and faster recovery may also be possible with this advanced technology. It is the only FDA sterile laser cataract system. Dr. Jatla is proud to be the first in the Austin greater area to provide this level of care to her patients. She loves to provide the greatest technology to her patients including the Light Adjustable Lens which provides patients with LASIK level vision after cataract surgery.
After being in private practice in New Jersey, Dr. Jatla became the founding member of Clarity Eye Center in Round Rock, Texas in 2008, the Georgetown location in 2012 and the Leander location in 2020. She started a brand of care where patients came first. Her priority is to personalize each patient’s care whether it is glaucoma, cataract or vision correction. Her motivation in caring for patients is to give her very best to each and every patient. She feels that her connections with each of her patients has made her practice of ophthalmology extremely fulfilling and continues to be rewarding. She has authored numerous scientific and clinical articles, enjoys traveling and outdoor activities, and is married to pediatrician Dr. Murali Jatla and is a mother of four wonderful children.
